PROFILE
The Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC) is a private-sector initiative conceived as a non-political and non-governmental institution which serves as an intellectual forum for making informed appraisals of, and independent inputs into the formation of public policies in Nigeria The PPRAC was established in Lagos in 1994, by a select group of eminent Nigerians-for purely altruistic purposes.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PPRAC
(a) To serve as an intellectual forum which will analyze, appraise and respond to public policies.
(b) To initiate, or make direct inputs which will positively influence the formation of public policies-thereby helping in the search for a better society.
(c) To assist in generating greater awareness of positive public policies, in order to ensure a better understanding and appreciation of such policies
To contribute ideas which will enhance public policy implementation – given the fact that poor implementation has been the major bane of many credible policies in Nigeria. As an institution, the PPRAC is built on the principle that an informed, intellectual analysis of public policies can lead to a better understanding of such policies, help in defining the shape of future policies and, therefore, place a crucial role in resolving national conflicts or crises.
THE ZIK PRIZE IN LEADERSHIP
Consistent with its objectives, the PPRAC initiated the annual Zik lecture Series in Nation Building, in hour of the revered elder statesman, the Right Honourable Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the First President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
