The Zik Prize in Leadership inaugural award was held on Thursday November 16, 1999 at the main auditorium of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos.
Award Recipients are:
- His Excellency, President J. J. Rawlings for Political Leadership
- Mr Akintola Williams, OFR for Professional Leadership
- Alhaji (Chief) Abdulazeez Udeh for Business Leadership.
The award ceremony was chaired by His Excellency, Alhaji Shehu Usman Shagari, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria
