Three serving governors and six prominent Nigerians have won the year 2013 Zik Prize in Leadership. The Governors are Adams Oshiomole of Edo State, Liyel Imoke of Cross River and Alh. Ibrahim Hassan Dakwambo of Gombe State. Other recipients are Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Chief Afe Babalola,  Ms Evelyn Oputu , Dr Alex Otti,  Dr ABC OJiakor and Mr Ernest Obiejesi.

The Zik Prize Leadership was set up in 1994 by the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre, PPRAC, as part of annual activities in honour of late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the First President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is meant to encourage the development of patriotism and honour integrity among Africans and all black people of the world. The PPRAC is a private sector, non-political and non-governmental organization. As in past editions, this year’s recipients were adjudged by the Advisory Board of the PPRAC to have excelled in various fields of human endeavour and therefore selected for the prestigious award.

While Oshiomole, Imoke and Dankwambo were selected for Good Governance, Tukur and Babalola were chosen for Public Service and humanitarian leadership respectively, while Oputu and Otti were selected for Professional Leadership Ojiakor and Obiejesi were chosen for Business Leadership.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Sunday June 22nd, 2014 at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Past recipients of the Zik prize in Leadership include former President J.J. Rawlings (1995): former President Nwalimu Julius Nyerere (1997); Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim (1998); President Sam Nujoma (1999); Dr. Nelson Mandela (2000); Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal (2012) among others.
